Hello,

First of all, I would like to thank Malcolm and Admin for helping me to join the forum.

My problem:
I don't know if this occurs due to my using of Windows 7 or conflict with some particular resources and/or applications running at the same time, but for some reason I cannot move object(s) around in the design view of the Card canvas. Every time I try, HN gets suddenly hang and not responding for at least one minute before back to normal and the object remains in its place. Ditto when I try to add or put any other object afterwards. Sometimes things are back to normal, but again--much more often than not, the problem returns when I try to move things around on the canvas: HN gets suddenly stuck in a seemingly heavy process in the background that makes it unresponsive for at least one minute.

Anyone care to shed some light into the matter? My humble thanks beforehand for the efforts.

Hello

I'm sorry you are having this problem and I think someone had this problem quite a while ago. However I can't recall what the solution was.

Have you installed Apple's Quicktime as HyperNext needs it to render objects?

At one time there were reports that Mcafee antivirus interfered with HyperNext so perhaps that or another antivirus tool is causing the problem.

I have tried to reproduce the problem by doing a clean install of HyperNext Studio on a Windows Home 64 bit system but things worked normally.

Perhaps the desktop settings might affect the rendering?
I had the Desktop graphics set at minimum.

Hi Malcolm,

Yes, before installing HyperNext I have installed Quicktime 7.7 and I have no Antivirus program in my computer (never much like it--hogging resources and all). But I'm not quite clear on the point of setting the Desktop Graphics at minimum. Do you mean that I should try lowering Windows color resolution, for instance? What's the most ideal desktop graphic environment for HN? Alternatively, should I try installing and running HN in a Virtual environment of Windows XP using SUN VirtualBox (because currently I use Win7 Ultimate 32 bit, if this is indeed a probable cause of problem)? Can it be done that way?

I really would like to start tinkering with HN and this issue is eating up all the excitements. Especially since nobody else seems to have suffered the same experience--safe from installing process in Win7 environment, that is. I have no problem whatsoever when installing.

In any case, I will try shutting down some applications I usually load up during Windows startup and see the different.

Hello

I'm sorry you are not having any success so far except for ruling out a few possibilities.

About the desktop, someone mentioned that turning off the desktop effects on Vista(i think) made HyperNext object dragging work normally - i think it was aero etc so the OS didn't spend time/resources on them. The screen resolution and depth shouldn't have any affect.

Perhaps you could try a clean install and follow the second part of this post:-

By the way, someone said they couldn't get HyperNext to work with Apple Quicktime but it did work with QT Lite.

Best of luck for the weekend.

I have the same exact problem in Windows 7. Not just moving things around, but clicking on most anything, freezes things up for a short time, then back to normal, most frustrating.
