OS 9 builds and Sprites
« on: July 01, 2010, 10:53:31 AM »
I am having problems running sprites under OS 9 although they work under OS X.
Can you please explain how HyperNext builds work and whether they will work on on Windows?

HyperNext v3.83 currently builds just PEF for OS X and is PPC so it runs under the Rosetta emulator.

There are limitations when developing under OS 9 and targetting OS X and Windows.
You might need the latest version of CarbonLib for OS 9 in order to get the built in sprites working.
I can get the Aquarium sprites example to run on my PowerBook G3:-
  - OS 9.2.1
  - Quicktime 6.03
  - CarbonLin 1.6.1

I forgot to add that my G3 PowerBook has 96MB physical RAM and 385MB with Virtual.
If there is insufficient RAM then the sprites can fail to load.
HyperNext Creator has been assigned 30MB RAM

If you can, try to develop under OS X as it is the far better than OS 9 and offers more functionality.

I notice you have a Mac running  OS X v10.4.11 - HyperNext should run fine under this
